BBC America Set ‘Doctor Who’ Season 8 US Premiere

BBC America today revealed this quick trailer for season 8 of their cult sci-fi series Doctor Who. Starring actor Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, the promo video confirms the US premiere date will be set for sometime in August, 2014.

Giving fans no more than a shadowy look at Capaldi inside the TARDIS, we can no doubt expect to see more trailers released in the weeks and months leading up to the season premiere.

The 2014 series see’s ‘The Musketeers’ star taking over the role of The Doctor from Matt Smith, while being joined by Jenna-Louise Coleman who reprises her part as companion Clara Oswald. This year will also feature the debut of male companion Danny, who’ll be played by Samuel Anderson. Keep a look out too for a brand-new baddie called Ms Delphox, played by actress Keeley Hawes.

Doctor Who season 8 is expected to be broadcast over the course of 13 weeks. With the Timelord also returning to UK TV screens this August, it appears US fans will have little reason to be jealous of their British counterparts.

UPDATE: BBC America have now revealed the new season will premiere in the US at 8:00pm on Saturday, August 23, 2014, the same day as the UK.
