BBC America have now set the US premiere date and time for Doctor Who Season 8, with episode 1 airing at 8:00pm ET/PTon Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Broadcasting on the same day as BBC One in the UK, fans will be treated to a feature-length season premiere episode, entitled ‘Deep Breath’. The show will see 56-year-old actor Peter Capaldi finally take on the role of the Twelfth Doctor.
Fans of the hit British sci-fi drama will no-doubt be pleased to see Capaldi joined by the Timelord’s returning companion Clara, played by Jenna Coleman (above). The new 2014 series will also feature a brand-new male companion named Danny, played by actor Samuel Anderson.
Guest stars for the new season include Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons), Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty), Ben Miller (Primeval) and stand-up comic Frank Skinner.
Doctor Who season 8 is now expected to air over 12 episodes and not 13, as was originally believed. This change may have been made in order to accommodate episode 1’s extended running time, which has yet to be officially announced.
With Peter Capaldi now also starring as Cardinal Richelieu in BBC America’s new action-drama The Musketeers, US viewers will be getting a double-dose of the Scottish actor in 2014.
